State of Virginia Department of Insurance Requirements
  • 16 hours are required for producers who hold only one type of license every 2 years (biennium), Including 2 hours required in Laws/Regulations
  • 24 hours are required for producers who hold two types of licenses every 2 years, Including 2 hours of Laws/Regulations. At least 8 hours must come from each line of insurance they hold.
  • Courses must be monitored by a supervisor or approved test administration service.
  • Courses are repeatable every biennium
  • Licensees can carry over unlimited excess credits to the next biennium.
  • Provider sends rosters to Thomson Prometric within 21 days of course completion.
  • If licensee fails to complete their credits on time, their license will get terminated and must pay $1,000 fine to reinstate along with passing the pre- licensing examination again.
